The Westside is an urban region in Los Angeles that encompasses roughly 100 square miles and more than 550,000 people. The coastal area has become known as Silicon Beach with more than 500 startups opening offices in the area including Google, Yahoo, Buzzfeed and AOL and has quickly become one of the world’s largest tech hubs. As a result the area has seen a number of development and urban renewal projects as prices have appreciated as well as venture funds, business incubators and accelerators moving to the area.
The region includes one of the largest universities in the United States, UCLA in Westwood, as well as Santa Monica College. The area has a lot of available medical space and some of the state’s top hospitals including Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.
Most office properties in the areas tend to be mid-rises but there are some notable office towers mainly in Century City which is a hub for law firms and entertainment companies.
